FAQ
  • How should I prepare my dog to run?
Properly preparing your pup for a Running Lab run is simple! Make sure that your pup is hydrated and has not eaten anything 2 hours before your appointment. When we call to confirm our arrival please make sure to allow your pet to relieve themselves.
  • How often should I run my dog?
We can schedule weekly, and bi-weekly runs. Our scheduling options include weekly, bi-weekly, and on-demand choices. Many individuals prefer a weekly schedule, experiencing significant mental and physical benefits by consistently choosing the same day and time each week. In warmer summer months, when outdoor activities may be restricted, some clients opt for a bi-weekly schedule.
  • How long will my dog be running?
The Running Lab's running sessions are 30 minutes! Your pup will get the chance to walk, run, and sprint as hard as they want whenever they want when they are hooked up to our slat mills!
  • What are the physical requirements for my dog?
Before engaging your dog in any physical activities, please seek approval from your veterinarian to ensure your dog is at least 4 months old and has received all required vaccinations. It's crucial to consider potential risks of illness or injury and consult with your veterinarian beforehand. Ensure that your dog is up to date on all vaccinations. Please inform us of any specific needs, known issues, or concerns about your dog, and we will make every effort to accommodate them.
  • What can I expect BEFORE my Running Lab Run?
When scheduling a run, we typically recommend planning a few days in advance, as accommodating same-day appointments can be challenging. The earlier you can specify your desired run time, the better. Appointments are set on the hour or half-hour, and we request a 15-minute window before or after your scheduled time to allow for potential traffic delays or unexpected scheduling adjustments. Prior to your initial session, you will receive an electronic liability form to sign; please read it thoroughly. The day before your appointment, you'll receive a confirmation text, and when we're en route, you'll receive an estimated time of arrival (ETA) text. This allows you to arrange a recent potty break, leash up your dog, and prepare for the run. If your dog has a preferred harness, feel free to use it for their session; otherwise, we provide harnesses for their safety and comfort during the run. Ensure that any feedings are completed at least 2 hours before the session. Upon our arrival, kindly bring your dog(s) out to the mobile dog gym!
  • What can I expect DURING my Running Lab run?
In addition to delivering prompt and professional service, our utmost priorities revolve around safety and spreading joy! Our ultimate aim is to provide your dog with a fantastic workout tailored to their needs. We keep a close eye on their movements, encouraging them to engage in activities like walking, trotting, or running at their own pace throughout the entire session. Breaks and water stops are included as needed. One fantastic feature of our equipment is that there's NO MOTOR—your dog does all the work, and nothing is forced. Our role is to ensure a safe and enjoyable experience, filled with positive reinforcement through cheering, clapping, squeaky toys, and, of course, plenty of love and affection. While treats may not be a regular sight, it's because many dogs utilize our services for weight loss or have specific dietary needs that we respect and accommodate. Feel free to join in during the sessions, enjoying quality time with your dog and even offering social coaching—it's a blast! Alternatively, you're welcome to let us take care of your furry friend while you attend to your tasks, unwind, or savor a glass of wine in the tranquility of your home after a day's work. Our policy is simple: you're invited to join, and you're equally excused if you choose to step away. It's all about creating a positive and enjoyable experience for both you and your beloved dog!
  • What can I expect AFTER my Running Lab run?
After an exhilarating session, your pup might be stretched out on the cool floor, happily panting away. It's a clear sign of a fantastic workout! Just give them a little time until their heart rate settles before serving up their favorite meal. Sometimes, dogs experience a burst of post-exercise energy—that's totally normal. It's the joyous aftermath of a great workout, with endorphins and adrenaline pumping. Once their heart rate takes a breather and they ease into relaxation mode, you'll see that extra energy fade away. For those less conditioned or older furry friends, a gentle rubdown on their hind legs works wonders. It helps release lactic acid and keeps any soreness at bay in the following days. Who wouldn't appreciate a little doggie massage post-workout? To book the next uplifting session, simply follow the same delightful process you used initially— hop online at therunninglabevansville.com. We usually check in within a week after their first session, but don't hesitate to share your thoughts or reach out anytime with your feedback. We're here to keep those tails wagging and those paws moving!
  • Do I need to be home for my running session?
We love to kick off the adventure with a Trial Run that we can all enjoy together! This way, everyone gets to meet, and your dog can feel your positive vibes in the new environment. It's a joyful experience! Following that, if you prefer, you're welcome to do a happy handoff at the door or van. 🐶🌟
